Child Advocacy Center will host Kick Child Abuse To The Curb Kickball Tournament Saturday, Nov. 20, at the Sonoravill­e Recreation Department, 7494 Fairmount Highway, beginning at 9 a.m. The event includes food, drinks and games. The Calhoun Recreation Department, will host a Santa’s Workshop, Sunday, Nov. 21, from 1 to 5 p.m. on the green space downtown across from City Hall. Activities will include cookie decorating, letters to Santa, ornament making and more. Agest 4-10 are welcome with a $2 admission.

Downtown Calhoun will host its annual Christmas tree lighting and visit with Santa, Sunday, Nov. 21, starting at 6:30 p.m., in front of the Gordon County Court House.

Samantha Lusk & Associates Realty, 208 N. River St., will host Let’s Keep Gordon Warm, Wednesday, Dec. 1, from 3 to 7 p.m. The free event will include profession­al photograph­ers, Santa and two reindeer, treats, hot cocoa, elves and other family activities. New and gently used coats, jackets, socks, blankets, scarves and gloves will be accepted.

United Way of Gordon County will hold its “Claus for a Cause” event, Wednesday, Dec. 1, from 5 to 7 p.m., downtown at the Depot, 109 S. King St. The suggested minimum donation is $10 per family. The event will include live Christmas music, holiday crafts and story time, as well as a photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

The Plainville Christmas Parade will be held downtown, Thursday, Dec. 2, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The GEM Theatre, 114 N. Wall St., will present a Christmas celebratio­n with Ahmad Hall and Friends, Sunday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. General admission tickets are $20.

The 2021 Calhoun Christmas Parade, themed “The Miracle on Wall Street,” is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9, beginning at the intersecti­on of Wall Street and Line Street, and traveling south on Wall Street, ending at the intersecti­on of Wall Street and Piedmont Street. The lineup will be held on North Wall Street as normal.

Faith Deliveranc­e Ministry and Outreach will host its “Christmas in the Mountains” event, Saturday, Dec. 11, from noon to 6 p.m., at 75 Crossroads Church Road, Ellijay. The event includes gospel singing groups, along with preaching from Evangelist Sam Hooper.

The annual Dana Patterson Memorial Christmas Concert is set for Saturday, Dec. 18, at the GEM Theatre, 114 N. Wall St., beginning at 7 p.m. General admission $18.69.

The Calhoun-Gordon County Public Library, 100 N. Park Ave., has resumed Noni’s Nook Story Time for children of all ages each Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Children can sing, hear stories and participat­e in crafts. All aspects of in-person programmin­g are subject to change based on health crisis guidelines and procedures.

The Renis Barrett VFW Post 5376, 406 W. Line St., will hold a veterans outreach breakfast the last Saturday of each month, from 8 to 10 a.m., in the event hall. The free breakfast is open to all local veterans.

Calhoun Anglican Fellowship is working to establish an orthodox and evangelica­l fellowship of like-minded Anglicans or other Christians interested in the Anglican Way committed to the authority of scripture and worship according to the Book of Common Prayer.
