CCS names new Exceptional Student Services director
Calhoun City Schools is pleased to announce their new Exceptional Student Services director, Heather McCrone.
Heather has been serving as the ESS specialist since August and has demonstrated her leadership and knowledge as she has supported teachers and students throughout the system.
Heather’s career has been primarily in Muscogee County before relocating to Calhoun. She holds degrees in leadership, special education and general education in addition to holding a dyslexia endorsement.
Her work experience includes teaching kindergarten through fifth grade for several years and serving as a special education instructional specialist for five years. Heather also was the lead ESS teacher and the local education agency (LEA) facilitator for three years at multiple schools.
In addition, she served as ESS program manager for more than eighteen schools in Muscogee County. She was voted by her peers as Teacher of the Year in two different school systems.
She brings a wide depth of knowledge about special education including addressing student achievement, instructional programming, professional learning, special education law and post-secondary options for
ESS students.
Heather is delighted to have relocated to Calhoun and is enjoying her time in North Georgia. When she’s not hard at work she can be found shopping, hiking, spending time with family and friends and rooting for her favorite team, UGA!
