CCCA Student of the Week spotlight

- From Calhoun City Schools

Calhoun High School 11th grader, Jacob Black, is the Calhoun College and Career Academy Student of the Week for Nov. 15 through 19.

Jacob is a student in the construction pathway at CCCA. Jacob’s construction teacher, Eric Rigney, nominated Jacob stating, “Jacob is a hard worker that shows a lot of interest in construction.”

Jacob chose the construction pathway at the CCCA because he has always had an interest in this type of work. Jacob has competed in the Northwest Georgia skills challenge at SkillsUSA for two years.

Jacob’s career aspiration is to become a lineman and be employed by Georgia Electric or Altec. Jacob plans to attend Elite Lineman Institute after graduation.

When asked about his thoughts on this pathway at CCCA, Jacob stated, “The

construction pathway has allowed me new opportunities

to learn new skills in different construction trades.”
