The City of Fairmount will host Christmas with Santa and tree lighting at the downtown square on Saturday, Dec. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. The event features music, photos with Santa as well as free hot drinks.
Calhoun Moose Lodge,
329 Prater Lake Road, will host Cookies with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 4, at 3 p.m.
Paradise Dragstrip, 500 Chatsworth Highway, will host “Thrills on the Hill Christmas” on Saturday, Dec. 4. at 7 p.m. with drag racing, a car show, swap meet and toy drive.
The Oostanaula Community
Club,1595 Oostanaula Bend Road, will host a band appreciation day, Saturday, Dec. 4, with a meal around 5 p.m. Two meats, a variety of vegetables, dessert and drink will be $8. Vic Chastain and Shady Branch will perform at 6 p.m., along with Highway 411 and The Goble Family. There will also be cake walks, door prizes and an auction.
The GEM Theatre, 114 N. Wall St., will present a Christmas celebration with Ahmad Hall and Friends, Sunday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. General admission tickets are $20.
Belmont Baptist Handbell Choir will present a Christmas concert at the GEM Theatre, 114 N. Wall St., Monday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m.
Free tickets are available at Belmont Baptist Church and at the GEM the night of the concert. Admission is a bag of groceries to be distributed through the Blewer Food Center.
Anna Shaw Children’s Institute will hold its next CHAMP (Classes to Help, Advise & Motivate Parents) webinar on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at noon. The topic will be “The Power of Play: Gross Motor Skills, Pretend Play and Favorite Toys.” Presenters will include Nancy Carnevale, MD, developmental pediatrician; Ashley Lantz, physical therapist; and Becki McBride, occupational therapist. The 2021 Calhoun Christmas Parade, themed “The Miracle on Wall Street,” is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9, beginning at the intersection of Wall Street and Line Street, and traveling south on Wall Street, ending at the intersection of Wall Street and Piedmont Street. The lineup will be held on North Wall Street as normal.
Faith Deliverance Ministry and Outreach will host its “Christmas in the Mountains” event, Saturday, Dec. 11, from noon to 6 p.m., at 75 Crossroads Church Road, Ellijay. The event includes gospel singing, along with preaching from Evangelist Sam Hooper.
