Work-Based Learning Student of the Month Spotlight for Dec.
Calhoun High School senior, Ben Cass, is the work-based learning Student of the Month for December 2021.
This is Ben’s first year as a WBL student. Ben’s WBL teacher, Kelly Fuquea nominated Ben stating, “Ben is one of the most positive students that I have an opportunity to work with. He is a hard worker and accepts any responsibility with a smile. He is an asset to the CTAE program and represents Calhoun High School and the CTAE program very well in our community. Ben receives raving reviews from his WBL placement supervisors.”
Ben chose the healthcare pathway because he puts others before himself and in this career. Ben believes he can help others and possibly change people’s lives for the better. He aspires to become a LPN (licensed practical nurse).
Ben then hopes to pursue a degree to become a nurse practitioner. He plans to attend Dalton State College after graduation.
When asked about his thoughts on the workbased learning program, Ben stated, “I am glad our school offers WBL, so I can explore the medical field to be sure this is the career I want to pursue. I would like to hopefully inspire more young adults to choose this career path as well. Not just for the money aspect, but to see how much doctors and nurses really help the community.”
