Tag office to perform system upgrades
Tags and title transactions will be unavailable Dec. 30 through Jan. 3
Along with the Georgia Department of Revenue, the Gordon County Tag Office will conduct end-of-year system updates starting at the end of December.
Beginning at 7 p.m., on Thursday, Dec. 30, and running through Monday, Jan. 3, the state will update the Driver Record and Integrated Vehicle Enterprise System, a move that is intended to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
According to County Tax Commissioner Scott Clements, the upgrade will require vehicle registrations and titling services, including e-services and tag renewal kiosks.
Vehicle owners with expiration dates in late December and early January are encouraged to renew ahead of the shutdown — ideally before 5 p.m. on Dec. 30. All online motor vehicle-related services, including online tag renewal will be unavailable. That shutdown includes selfservice kiosks.
Customers and dealers needing to conduct any title transactions should also be completed before close of business on Dec. 30, but law enforcement will still have access to vehicle records.
Gordon County offices will all be close Friday, Dec. 31 in observation of New Year’s Eve.
