Lawrence Stone, Jr., age 60, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022, at a local hospital.

Mr. Stone was born in Tallahasse­e, Florida on October 6, 1961, son of the late John Cooper and the late Jesseline Byrd Stancil. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gary Stone and Tony Stone, and by his father-in-law, Robert Byars. Mr. Stone was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He was a Registered Nurse at Advent Gordon Hospital. Mr. Stone was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church. He loved golf and bowling, was President of the bowling league at Classic Lanes in Rome and was a member of the National Bowling Associatio­n.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Byars Stone, to whom he was married on November 7, 1981; two children, Allison Marie Edmondson (Cody), Summervill­e, and Christophe­r Lawrence Stone (Kaitlyn), Houston, TX; grandchild­ren, Robert Alexander Edmondson, Brandon Josshua Edmondson, Isabelle Grace Stone, and Baby Edmondson due in October; a brother, Ricky Lee Stone, Lake City, FL; his mother-in-law, Helen Byars, Rome; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 8, 2022, at 1pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Jeff Dabbs officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday from 5 until 7pm.

Pallbearer­s are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Friday at 12:30pm and include: Active: Chris Stone, Cody Edmondson, Joseph Newberry, Jeremy Newberry, Doug Krawiec, and Kary Bauchum. Honorary: Members of the Sunday Night Bowling League.
