The Gordon County Agricultur­al Service Center, 1282 Highway 53 Spur, will host a Home Canning Lunch & Learn Wednesday, April 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Topics will include pressure and boiling water canning, and food storage for safety quality. The Gordon County Chamber of Commerce and Starr-Mathews will host a Tornado and Insurance Fraud Seminar, Thursday, April 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Calhoun Depot, 109 S. The Calhoun Rec. Department, 601 S. River St., will host a Power Wheels Derby, Saturday, April 23, at 5 p.m., with check-in and registrati­on at 4 p.m. There will be two age groups — two to four and five to seven. No modified batteries, helmets required.

The Gordon County Singing Convention will hold the spring singing on Saturday, April

23, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 574 Pleasant Hill Road, Ranger, at 6:30 p.m. Singers, directors and specials are expected from the surroundin­g areas. All singers and listeners are invited to participat­e.

A Remembranc­e of Confederat­e Memorial Day will be held Sunday, April 24, at 2 p.m., at Resaca Confederat­e Cemetery. The event is sponsored by the United Daughters of the Confederac­y Harriet Gold Chapter No. 2526, and Sons of Confederat­e Veterans General Stand Watie Camp No. 915.

A Community Lights the Way candleligh­t vigil will be held Monday, April 25, from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m., at 100 S. Wall St., in honor of crime victims of Gordon County.
