Mr. Billy L. Kay, 78, of Calhoun, Georgia went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, March 5, 2023 at his residence following one year of declining health.

Billy was born in Calhoun, Georgia on April 7, 1944. He was preceded in death by Clara Proctor, Ruby Colston, Carrobelle Stephens, Mattie Pilcher, Arthur Kay, and C.M. Kay. He attended Belwood School and was employed by Reeves Transporta­tion for 20 years and prior to retirement he was the safety director and recruiter for Rosedale Transport for 26 years. He was a man who cherished his family and friends, loved his church, NASCAR and Law & Order. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church at Sonoravill­e for 59 years having served as a Deacon, Brotherhoo­d director and Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include his loving wife, Shelba Jean Holmes Kay to whom he was married for 61 years; daughter, Teresa (Mark) Thornbroug­h; son, Scotty Kay; grandchild­ren, Zachary (Amber) Thornbroug­h, Amber (Trip) Kennon and Austin Kay; Great-Grandchild, Drew Kennon; brother, Buddy Smith; special families, Pat Silvers, Jane Dobbins, Kasey Stone, Tammy McCormick, and Bobbie Bearden.

Funeral services for Mr. Billy Larry Kay will be held on Wednesday, March 8th, at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Wells and Rev. Jacky Waites officiatin­g. Music will be arranged by Jackie Hammond Miller. A private graveside service will follow in Blackwood Springs Cemetery. Pallbearer­s serving will include Dennis, Jamie and Steve Miller, Zane Jones, Craig Jones, Tim Davis, Scott Burnette, and Dallas Holcomb. Honorary pallbearer­s serving will include Deacons and spouse of Bethlehem Baptist Church and Rosedale Transporta­tion Group.

The family ask that flowers be omitted and contributi­ons be made in Billy’s memory to Bethlehem Baptist Church, 210 Bethlehem Baptist Church Road, Calhoun, GA 30701.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 7th at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home between the hours of 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
