Seventh-day Adventist Church to host a plant-based cooking class

On Monday, May 8, at 7 p.m., Chef Jennifer Gurtner will present a free plantbased cooking class at the Calhoun Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1411 Rome Road.

Gurtner is a graduate of the prestigiou­s Natural Gourmet Institute of Health and Culinary Arts in New York City (now known as the Institute of Culinary Education), noted for producing some of the world’s top vegan chefs and authors. She also completed Cornell University’s online Plant-Based Nutrition certificat­e program.

Where: a mixed green salad with a lemon-dijon vinaigrett­e, and for dessert banana blueberry cake with lemon frosting. Food tasting will follow after the presentati­on.

The cooking school is a free community service of the Adventist Church.
