Red Bud Road Chickfil-A: Several months ago, we reported that Chick-filA had shown interest in a parcel of land next to Walgreen’s on Red Bud Road. Though the company itself was very candid about the plan, the deal may have died due to an easement request not given through an adjacent property. The company — and others — seem to still have plenty of interest in the Red Bud Road exit, however.
Due soon at nearby LakePoint: One of the most quiet developments of late is the soon-to-open Element LakePoint at the Emerson sports campus. Bringing 206 rooms in the heart of development, the initial cost was estimated at $39 million when announced several years ago. Work was very steady in 2023 and we estimate a formal opening before the middle of the new year. One key perk is its adjacency to LakePoint’s 170,000-squarefoot Champions Center.
BOGO Varsity: We’re 99% confident both the Rome and LakePoint locations of The Varsity will be open this spring — and perhaps sooner than most expect. It has been a long process, from rumors to permits and plans to actual construction. We’re now sure about the Cartersville location across from the car museum and Tractor Supply but we’re told it is on the way, too.
Crumbl Cookie: Work is well underway at Charles Hight Square in the former Jimmy John’s spot near Publix in Rome. It has been in the mix for almost 18 months. The company’s Dalton location has already been operating for several months. Say farewell to those New Year’s diet plans.
