Calhoun City Schools BOE OKs purchases, salary schedules

Monday’s Calhoun City Schools Board of Education meeting saw several purchases and the approval of a slate of salary schedules for the upcoming year.

Students and staff were recognized for their contributi­ons and achievemen­ts. National Speech and Debate, Governor’s Honors program students, Young Georgia Authors, and the system’s administra­tive team were all honored at the meeting.

There were several items up to a vote.

First, the system looked at their 2024-25 salary schedule. This included schedules for teacher interns, certified staff, administra­tive staff, transporta­tion staff, nutrition staff, and others. Those salary schedules were approved.

Next, the board looked at purchasing a new laser cutter from Boss Laser for the system’s CTAE program. That came to a grand total of $21,968.96, and was approved by the board.

Also on the docket was the system’s subscripti­on to Canvas, their online learning portal.

For a one-year subscripti­on for 2,117 users, the cost came to $22,164.99. That was approved by the board.

The board also looked at a memorandum approving chicken manufactur­ers for their nutrition program to purchase from. Those manufactur­ers would be Tyson, Gold Kist/Pilgrim’s Pride, and Gold Creek Foods. That

memorandum was approved.

Finally, the board approved an overnight field trip for the middle school fishing team to Lake Lanier on Friday, April 26, to Saturday, April 27.

Upcoming events include
