Tigers dominate Warriors

CENTRAL FALLS – With the Murray brothers at the helm, Tiverton High strolled to an 81-51 Division II road triumph over Central Falls on Friday night.

The elder Tim notched a game-high 28 points while kid brother Tyler chipped in 15 for the Tigers, who improved to 52 on the league campaign. Justin Dore managed a dozen more, while Steve Gaioch posted nine.

As for the Warriors, who remained winless in D-II action at 0-6 (1-10 overall), senior tricaptain Josh McNeil achieved a “double-double” with 17 points and 12 boards, and fellow captain Eli Mercado snared another 17 points in defeat.

“We cut it to nine points with 6:30 left, but Tiverton went on a 21-0 run down the stretch,” stated head coach Brian Crookes. “Naturally, it was led by the Murray brothers.”

PAWTUCKET – The trio of Jackie Bradley Jr., Mookie Betts and Rusney Castillo will likely be Boston’s starting outfield for 2016, barring any significan­t trades between now and when curtain goes up on the season in April.

How does that concept sit with the 25-year-old Bradley, who was at McCoy Stadium Friday night in conjunctio­n with the first-ever “Moonlight Madness” event that saw the PawSox put 2016 single-game tickets on sale? Let’s just say Bradley is doing his best to turn a deaf ear to what pundits both locally and nationally are saying and writing.

“For me, it’s more about focusing about what I have to do. You hear the talk, but it’s one of those things where it’s just talk,” said Bradley. “Until is comes to pass, things can change.”

In other words, Bradley will wait for Boston manager John Farrell to offer official confirmati­on that he’s on the Opening Day roster for what would be the third time in four seasons.

“Until it’s here and in the present, all I can focus on is getting myself better and becoming a better ballplayer,” said Bradley.
