City shows heart with support for Harbour Youth Center

- Stump Evans, Director The Harbour Youth Center Community Care Alliance 65 Main Street Woonsocket

To the editor:

As reported in the Woonsocket Call, there was a break-in at The Harbour Youth Center during the holiday season that resulted in the loss of a large television, gift cards and other items.

We wanted to thank and acknowledge the outstanding generosity of people in the city, including The Call, that came to our aid and showed us their support. One couple even took their own flat-screen TV off their wall and drove it down to the center along with a check for $500, replacing the one that was stolen!

We received many more donations of cash, food baskets and gift cards from Community Care Alliance Board members, The Call in partnership with local businesses, clients, and people in the community that allowed us to continue our programming as planned during the holidays.

We couldn’t be more grateful for this outpouring of support and wanted to be sure that this good news is noted publicly.

So many times we focus on the negative in our community, with our youth and young adults feeling the brunt of that negativity. The outpouring of support gave us a unique opportunity to show our youth participants that there are a great many people in the Woonsocket community that believe in them and will put forward their time, money and resources to assist them in becoming successful members of their community and reminding us all that kindness will always win out in the end.

Thank you Woonsocket!
