Burrillville council race will have 11 candidates
But no declarations by incumbents Binns, Brissette Brown
BURRILLVILLE – Eleven candidates have filed declaration papers for three available seats on the Burrillville Town Council, a panel that in recent weeks has come under scrutiny over Invenergy’s proposal to construct a new gas-fired power plant in town.
Candidates for statewide and local offices in Rhode Island had until 4 p.m. Wednesday to file papers.
Right now, Republicans hold a 5-2 majority on the council. They include Council President John F. Pacheco III, Stephen N. Rawson, David J. Place, Michelle D. Bouchard and Donald A. Fox. The Democratic members on the council are Nancy F. Binns and Kimberly Brissette Brown.
Pacheco, Binns and Brissette Brown are all up for re-election in November, but only Pacheco filed declaration papers this week.
The other candidates filing declarations for the three available council seats are Robert J. Perreault Jr., James H. Alix, Michael J. Dutilly, Jeremy Bailey, Raymond J. Trinque, Harold J. Carter III, James Harrison Libby, John Anthony Scott, David J. LaCroix and Bryon Tonge Jr.
Carter, Libby and Scott are listed as Independents.
Trinque, a Republican, is a member of the Sewer Commission and a former member of the School Committee and Town Council. A Burrillville High School graduate, he attended Johnson & Wales University and is a cook at Brown University.

the Harrisville Fire Department, is a Democrat and lifelong resident of Burrillville.
Perreault is a Democrat and a retired Zambarano Hospital employee, where he worked as a therapeutic services provider.
Perreault, Dutilly and Alix are all self- described anti-power-plant candidates endorsed by the Burrillville Democratic Town Committee.
Bailey, also a Democrat, is a realtor for Acumen Group Real Estate. He also worked for 1st National Realty. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Rhode Island and his master’s degree from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. He has also an outspoken critic of the power plant.
