MileSplit RI hosting Summer Track Series at Tucker Field starting on July 12 WLL Jim Carr Memroial Golf Tournament to be held on August 20 at Triggs GC

CUMBERLAND — For the third straight year, MileSplit RI will host a series of all-comer track meets this summer. The meets will be held at Cumberland High's Tucker Field on four consecutive Tuesday nights from 6-8, beginning on July 12. The dates of the other meets are July 19, July 26 and Aug. 2.

The events are 100m/200m (alternate weeks), 400m, 800m, Mile, 3,000m, 4x400m, shot put, long jump and hammer. The meets are open for athletes of all ages and abilities. The cost for unlimited events is

Plans have begun for this year’s Woonsocket Little League Jim Carr Memorial Jimmy Fund Golf Tournament. The Tournament is the main Charity Event sponsored by WLL.. Established in 1993 by the membership of the League in honor of Mr. Jim Carr, who was a long standing Manager and volunteer of the League who was a victim of Cancer. This will be thee 23rd year.

Through the past 22 years, we have raised a total of $250,000.00. Every dollar raised goes to the Jimmy Fund.

This year’s tournament will be played once again at Trigg’s Country Club in Providence on August 20th. Tee off is scheduled for 8 a.m. with registration beginning at 6:30 a.m. Post event barbecue is slated to begin immediately after the tournament

Gerry Forget will be returning as Tournament Chairman once again. As always, we are in need of Sponsors and gifts that can be used as prizes or raffle items. Tee and Green sponsorships at $125.00 each are available. We are accepting foursomes at this time to fill the roster if we have any openings. If interested your name will be placed on a waiting list, first come, first served. The cost for a foursome is $520.00.
