2nd Annual YWCA Benefit Golf Tournament on July 17 in Woonsocket

WOONSOCKET — YWCA Rhode Island will hold its 22nd Annual Golf Tournament on Sunday, July 17 at Foster Country Club with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

Proceeds from the tournament and raffle will help support ENCOREplus and other YWCA programs. ENCOREplus is a systematic approach to women’s health promotion, in particular, breast cancer education. This program not only educates women about the importance of early detection and refers them to screening services, but also helps women overcome the barriers that keep them from obtaining preventative health care services.

The tournament is dedicated to Gini Duarte, who passed away in 1994 due to breast cancer. It also provides an outstanding female scholar/athlete with a Gini Duarte Memorial Scholarship.

Participation in the golf tournament helps YWCA to have a great day of golf, supports a female schol- ar/athlete, and increases awareness of the life-saving benefits of early detection of breast cancer.
