Plans have begun for this year’s Woonsocket Little League Jim Carr Memorial Jimmy Fund Golf Tournament. The Tournament is the main Charity Event sponsored by WLL.. Established in 1993 by the membership of the League in honor of Mr. Jim Carr, who was a long standing Manager and volunteer of the League who was a victim of Cancer. This will be thee 23rd year.

Through the past 22 years, we have raised a total of $250,000.00. Every dollar raised goes to the Jimmy Fund.

This year’s tournament will be played once again at Trigg’s Country Club in Providence on August 20th. Tee off is scheduled for 8 a.m. with registration beginning at 6:30 a.m. Post event barbecue is slated to begin immediately after the tournament

Gerry Forget will be returning as Tournament Chairman once again. As always, we are in need of Sponsors and gifts that can be used as prizes or raffle items. Tee and Green sponsorships at $125.00 each are available.

We are accepting foursomes at this time to fill the roster if we have any openings. If interested your name will be placed on a waiting list, first come, first served. The cost for a foursome is $520.00.

WOONSOCKET — The Monday Mixed League is looking for adults to join our handicapped, sanctioned bowling league. League play begins on Monday, September 12, at 6:20 p.m. and runs for 35 weeks. Annual sanction fee is $18 and bowling fees (including dues) are $20 per week. BELLINGHAM — The Bellingham Women’s Volleyball League will be holding registrations on Wednesday, September 7 from 6-8 p.m. at Pete's Bluebird and again on Tuesday, September 13 from 6-8 p.m. at Grumpy's Restaurant.

This non-competitive, fun league is open to all women over twenty-five years of age. Games are played when school is in session on Thursday evenings at the Bellingham South Elementary School from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M. Registration fee is $40 for the season. CUMBERLAND – The Cumberland Comets travel softball program will hold tryouts for its U10 and U12 teams on Saturday, Aug. 27, at Bentley Field.

The U10 team will conduct its tryouts at 8 a.m., while the U12 team will have its tryouts at 11 a.m. Players are encouraged to check in 15 minutes before each tryout. There will be a tryout fee of $25. Players should bring all their equipment (glove, bat, helmet, catching equipment if applicable, and water bottle) and not wear any team jerseys during the tryouts.
