BLACKSTONE — The Blackstone Cultural Council announces that it is now accepting proposals for community-oriented arts, humanities and science projects for the 2017 season.

The BCC has a mission to improve the cultural life of the town’s residents. The Massachusetts Cultural Council grant application form is online at mass-culture.org. No handwritten applications will be accepted and all forms must be postmarked by Monday, Oct. 17.

BCC grants can support a variety of cultural projects and activities in Blackstone, including exhibits, festivals, short term artist residencies, workshops and lectures. The BCC will also entertain funding proposals from schools and youth groups through PASS Program which provides subsidies for school age children to attend cultural field trips. This year, the Blackstone Cultural Council will distribute approximately $4,000 in grants. Funded projects for FY2016 included entertaining and educational programs for children and families at the Blackstone Public Library, art and musical concerts at Daniels Farmstead. The LCC Program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation, supporting thousands of community based projects in the arts, humanities and sciences every year.

The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, which then allocates funds to each community. Grant applications are available only online at: mass-culture.org select ‘Applicants’ and then ‘Application Process.’
