1966

Bill Shockley put together single strings of 129, 111 and 168 for a total of 408 and high score in the weekly matches of the YMCA-Industrial Men’s Division Duckpin Bowling League at the Hamlet “30” Lanes in Pawtucket. Other leaders were Sam Morra 381, Ben Defusco 379, Doug MacQueen 369, Chuck Roscoe 369, Gene Iannetta 362, Ken Salley 356, and Al Normand 353. In the Women’s Division, Vivian Vinniti rolled the high three with 327 and the high single of 131 followed by Mary Rzemien 129-326, Helen Kaplan 121-315, Anita Gendron 125-317, Celia Duffy 307, Jeanne Malo 302 and Louise Lanni 301.

1986

Curtis Moore of Davies Vocational, a talented 5-foot10 junior who powered the Patriots to a second straight Class C championsh­ip, finished the regular season with a best-ever Times-Area schoolboy single-season scoring average of 32.0 points per game, eclipsing the previous record of 29.1 set by Tom Beaucage of Davies in 1977-78. Rounding out the top five pointgette­rs are Tolman’s Dave Dalpe (18.0), Carlos Berrios of Central Falls (17.9), Bishop Feehan’s Brian Nelson (17.2) and in fifth place with a 16.9 mark is Dave Dargy of Tolman.

1996

Coach Nick Pagliaro’s Central Falls volleyball squad, which captured the R. I. Class C championsh­ip last year, began league play with virtually an all new team and whipped Our Lady of Fatima 15-2, 15-7, 15-8. Senior Angie Chirinos, who will be the focal point of the Warrior’s offense, served four aces and put away nine kills, sophomore Vanessa Espinosa also registered four kills and junior Lenis Guzman served a pair of aces. Pagliaro singled out the play of senior setter Angelina Rada who gave her teammates, Chirinos and Espinosa, the opportunit­y to score points.
