1950 Coach John “Wink” Crowley will start three seniors, three juniors and three sophomores when Cumberland opens its baseball campaign against Burrillville. The infield starters will be freshman Ron Cooper on the hill along with battery-mate junior John Oldham, senior Fred Wallach at first, sophomore Bob Doris at second, soph Ed Hobson at shortstop and junior Johnny Goryl at third base. The outfield is comprised of junior Bob “Bing” Richard and seniors Willett Carter and Dave Casey.

1960 Cumberland baseball coach Andy Tucker will probably open the Northern Division campaign with seven sophomores in the starting lineup, though four of his sophs played as freshmen last season. The infield has senior Jim Poli at first, junior Leon St. Pierre at second, Joe Marshall, the Clippers’ No.1 hurler, will alternate with Ed Parlak at shortstop and Norman Carr holds down the hot corner. Frank Dombkowski, Mike Aragao and Steve Tucker will be the outfield flychasers, while Dick Kissik will call the pitches from behind the plate for a pitching corps of Marshall, big Ted Crowley, son of former Cumberland coach John “Wink” Crowley, and lefty Aragao.

1970 Sophomore Wayne Lima won three events and senior Dan Palmer captured two as Cumberland opened its Interscholastic League outdoor track season with an impressive 9518 triumph over Ponagansett. Lima won the 100 (10.9) and 220yard dashes (24.4) and the long jump (19-1), while Palmer was the winner in the hammer (123-4) and the discus events (114-8). Other individual winners for the Clippers were Rene VanDerKeyl in the 440 (56.3), Dave Bryce in the 880, Tom Grundy in the two-mile (10:04.4), Bill Kruger in the shot put (43-3) and Pete Stanton in the javelin (155-0).
