April 27 1950

Ed Zifcak and Phil Berge combined on a three-hitter, struck out eight, belted four hits and scored four runs as Burrillvil­le pounded Pawtucket Vocational 14-2 in a game that was called in the seventh inning by agreement. Bob Ducharme paced coach Don Ecclestron’s Broncos with three hits and three runs tallied, while Don Menard, Berge and Zifcak all collected two hits apiece and scored two runs. Ted Tumidajski clubbed two hits and Ray Gerard had the only other safety for the Vokes.

1960

Chunky right-hander Paul Herman fired a three-hitter, struck out nine and walked only one as Woonsocket threw the Northern Division race into confusion by handing Cumberland its first setback 3-2 at Barry Field. Tom Barrera drilled a double, a single and scored two runs, while Fred Santucci and Roger Benoit ripped RBI singles and Herman added a run-scoring double to account for the Villa Novans’ runs. Dick Kissik collected an RBI single and Joe Marshall and Ted Crowley had the other safeties for the Clippers.

1970

Gary Stott fashioned a four-hit shutout, struck out 10 and walked three as Lincoln blanked Central Falls 7-0 in a Northern Division tilt. Pete Moreau laced a double, an RBI single and scored two runs, Moe Omar drilled a two-run single and Vic Smolan added a run-scoring single for the Lions. Ron Poulin and Mike Alves combined to limit Lincoln to five hits, fanned four and walked five in a losing effort.
