BELLINGHAM – The body of an identified woman recovered on Sunday from a small pond at the Circle CG Farm and Camp Ground on North Main Street was identified late Monday as Aimee B. Polk, 44, of 80 Depot St., Apt. 1, Milford.

Polk had been reported missing at the campground by a friend and was discovered in the pond shortly after 1 p.m. Sunday by staff members at the campground.

The office of the chief medical examiner has accepted the case and will determine the cause and manner of death, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr.

State Police detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office and the Bellingham Police are investigating.

Polk’s body was recovered from a small body of water at the 30-acre, 15-site family camping and RV park at 131 North Main St., which is described on the campground’s website as a “small fishing/frog pond.”

Circle CG Farm Campground was founded in 1968 by Cliff and Marion Grover along a sparsely populated section of North Main Street in Bellingham.

In 1992, Cliff’s daughter Linda Daley and her husband Rob took over ownership of Circle CG Farm, which attracts families and campers from all across the country.

The campground released a statement about the death, saying: “Our Family at Circle CG Farm Campground would like to send our deepest sympathy to the family of the person found in our pond yesterday. We will continue to work with the police at whatever capacity they need until this investigation is complete.”

“We would like to commend the Bellingham Police and Fire Departments, along with the State Police and our staff for their quick response and professionalism that they all displayed during this tragic incident. In the 49 years that we have been open, we have never seen anything like this. Myself and staff would also like to thank the media for giving this person and their family the respect and privacy they deserve.”
