Road Race at McCoy Stadium on May 20
PAWTUCKET — In partnership with 21 Heroes, the Pawtucket Red Sox are hosting a “Veterans Home Run” 5K race-walk at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 20.
The race will begin and end at McCoy Stadium. A festival/picnic for participants will follow from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. This year's race features a revised route that takes participants into scenic downtown Pawtucket before returning to McCoy for a finish at home plate.
Proceeds from the race will benefit veterans’ organizations in the area, including Operation Stand Down RI, which helps homeless and inneed vets get housing and other services they need to improve their lives. 21 Heroes, a Pawtucket organization dedicated to the 21 former city residents who died in the Vietnam War, is partnering with the PawSox to recruit participants for the race. So far, approximately 75 citizens are running in memory of five of those 21 Heroes.
Registrants can sign up on- line at pawsox.com for $25. The cost drops to $20 for teams of 10 runners. The registration fee is $30 on the day of the race. Signups begin at 7:30 on May 20.
The Jim Tanner Caddy Classic will be held Monday July 10 at 1:00 shotgun at Pawtucket Country Club with four man teams playing a best ball with a gross and net team competition. There will also be net and gross skins games with a luncheon served at noon and a reception with food and prizes immediately following golf.

Pawtucket Country Club members can sign up in the proshop with Mike Gelinas.
You can make your own foursome or can sign up by yourself or with other members or guests and the committee will make up a foursome for the event.
You are encouraged to sign up early so that you will be included in this exciting event.
Entry fee includes golf, cart, food and prizes. There will be a raffle ($20 for 5 tickets) and optional gross skins game ($20).
You are welcome to donate prizes for raffle and auction and personal donations made payable to Jim Tanner Caddy Classic. All Donations will be recognized in the Jim Tanner Caddy Classic program. Tournament for Visually Impaired Persons (VIP’s).
The half-day tournament will be held on a Frances Fleet party boat out of Galilee RI where the participants will be competing for one of several trophies.
The event is free of charge to the VIP’s and their guide. (Guides are provided for those that need them) The day includes; gifts, breakfast, and a halfday of fishing from (8AM- Noon) and is followed by lunch and awards at a Hanks’ Down South restaurant.
Also, the 3 top winners are eligible to represent RI at the Lions National VIP Fishing Tournament held on the Outerbanks of North Carolina and includes a New England Lions VIP Tourney, which currently includes RI, CT and MA.
