INDEPENDEN­CE DAY EVENT ROUNDUP

There will be plenty of parades, concerts and fireworks in the Blackstone Valley in honor of Independen­ce Day and it all begins Monday, July 3 with Woonsocket’s annual

4th of July celebratio­n at Barry Field Park Avenue and Smithfield Road.

The evening begins at 7 p.m. with entertainm­ent and a concert by Jeff Gamache & Runaway Train, who will be crooning patriotic favorites and more until 9 p.m.

The fireworks display over Barry Field will light up the skies around 9:15 p.m.

Event attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and or blankets.

The rain date is Wednesday, July 5.

PAWTUCKET

Pawsox post game fireworks at McCoy Stadium will be held after the games on Saturday, July 1; Sunday, July 2, and Monday, July 3. Game time is 6:15 p.m., with fireworks set to music approximat­ely 20 minutes after the final out. For tickets visit www.pawsox.com

CUMBERLAND

The Town of Cumberland’s annual July 4th event is Monday, July 3 at the Tucker Field Complex on Mendon Road with music, a food truck rally and fireworks at 9 p.m.

The festival kicks off at 5 p.m. with a food truck rally that will run until 9 p.m. and feature food from Mickey G’s Clam Shack, Gotta Q BBQ, Citizen Wing, Del’s Lemonade, Kona Ice and What’s Pop’n Kettle Corn.

New England Oldies band Kings Row will perform at 6:30 p.m.

The Cumberland Senior Center will hold its annual July 4th Cookout on Thursday, July 6 at 11:30 a.m. at the senior center, 1464 Diamond Hill Road. The cost is $4 and includes hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and desserts.

The 90th Annual Arnold Mills Parade steps off Tuesday, July 4 at 11 a.m. on Nate Whipple Highway (Route 120) close to the North Attleboro town line. The theme for this year’s parade is “Stars and Stripes Forever.”

The annual “Concert on the Green” will be held after the parade at 1 p.m. in front of the Arnold Mills United Methodist Church, 690 Nate Whipple Highway.

The parade will be preceded by the 47th Annual Arnold Mills Road Race, which begins at 9 a.m. from the North Cumberland fire station, 50 Arnold Mills Road.

One of the oldest running races in New England, it is a certified 4 mile race over mostly flat country roads The top three finishers get trophies with a prize raffle to follow.

BELLINGHAM

Bellingham’s Fourth of July Celebratio­n will be held Tuesday, July 4 at the Bellingham Middle School athletic fields, 130 Blackstone St. with a concert at 5 p.m. by Matt Zajac; the Peter Boro Band at 6 p.m.; and Pieces of Eight at 7:30 p.m. The fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. Parking is available at the Middle School.

CENTRAL FALLS

The city will host a special Independen­ce Day flag raising ceremony at noontime Monday, July 3 at City Hall, 580 Broad St.

EAST PROVIDENCE

East Providence’s Independen­ce Day Celebratio­n will be held Monday, July 3 at Pierce Stadium, 201 Mercer St., with fireworks slated to go off at 9:15 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m. There will also be food, concession­s and free concert featuring Kicking Hole & Crushed Velvet followed by the fireworks.

GLOCESTER

The 91st Annual Ancients & Horribles Parade steps off at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 4. The parade starts at the intersecti­on of Routes 100 and 98 (Money Hill Road and Steere Farm Road) and ends at Acote’s Field on Putnam Pike, Chepachet.

Several bands will entertain an expected crowd of 10,000 or more. In addition, several large and small floats, walking groups, tractors, antique cars and trucks, artillery units, fire apparatus, and a cadre of cops, clowns, and assorted other characters will comprise the line of march.

The town’s July 4th fireworks display will be held on Saturday, July 1 at 9 p.m. at Glocester Memorial Park behind the Senior Center on Route 44. Rain date is Sunday, July 2.

The 44th Annual Road Race kicks off Tuesday, July 4 at 9 a.m. from Chepachet Union Church, 1138 Putnam Pike. There are four races: a 5.5 mile race, a 1.75 mile race, a 1 mile race for children 8-12 years old, and a .5 mile race for children 7 years old and under.

UXBRIDGE

The Uxbridge 4th of July Celebratio­n will be held on Saturday, July 8th at the McCloskey Middle School Field from 4 to 9 p.m. The event, hosted by the Uxbridge 4th of July Committee and Premeer Real Estate, will feature music, food trucks, inflatable fun, sweet treats and a singing contest hosted by Shamrock Financial and The Larynx. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m.

FRANKLIN

Franklin’s 35th July 4th Celebratio­n kicks of Thursday, June 29 at 6 p.m. at the Town Common and ends Tuesday, July 4 at 5 p.m. The five-day event includes food booths and amusements, bands and contests and special children’s day events on Saturday.

There will also be a special Laser Light Show at 10 p.m. on Monday, July 3.

There are no fireworks or a July 4th parade this year.

ATTLEBORO

Attleboro’s July 4th celebratio­n with family-oriented games, activities, food, music and prizes will be held Tuesday, July 4 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Poncin-Hewitt complex.

The Annual Children’s July 4th Bike Parade starts at approximat­ely 10:15 a.m.

There will be compliment­ary food and music provided by DJ Nate Williams.

There will be a fireworks display Monday, July 3 at 9 p.m. at the Attleboro High School & Brennan Middle School Complex, 100 Rathbun Willard Drive. The rain date is Wednesday, July 5.

NORTH PROVIDENCE

North Providence’s Independen­ce Day Celebratio­n will be held Monday, July 3 at Governor John A. Notte Jr. Park, Douglas Avenue, with entertainm­ent and a food court from 6 to 9 p.m., followed by a fireworks display at 9 p.m. Rain date is July 5.

SEEKONK

An Independen­ce Day Thrill Show and fireworks display will be held Thursday, July 1 from 5 to 9:30 p.m. at Seekonk Speedway, 1710 Fall River Avenue. The event will include spectator drags, enduro and truck drags, figure eight races, and powder puff races. Gates open at 2:30 p.m. and races begins at 5 p.m. Fireworks after dark. Tickets are $20 for adults; $10 for children 6-12; and free for children 5 and younger.

SCITUATE

Fireworks display on Monday, July 3 at Hope Jackson Fire Station at Hope Park, 117 Main Street. Event opens at 5 p.m. with clam cakes, burgers, hot dogs, drinks, and free chowder. Fun activities for the kids include bounce house, face painting, shrine clowns, balloon animals, temporary tattoos, smoke trail- er, glow-sticks and more. Fireworks show beginning at sundown.

SMITHFIELD

Independen­ce Day Celebratio­n Sunday, July 2 from 6-10 p.m., Bryant University Bulldog Stadium, 1150 Douglas Pike. The campus opens to the public at 6 p.m. and the U.S. Navy Band will perform at 8 p.m. Fireworks begin at 9 p.m. Rain date is July 9.

BRISTOL

The Bristol 4th of July Parade begins at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 4 and will step-off at 10:30 a.m. at the corner of Chestnut Street and Hope Street (Rt. 114) and end on High Street, between State Street and Bradford Street. Hope Street (Rt. 114) will be closed off beginning at 8 a.m., including Poppasquas­h Road. Beginning at 7 a.m., Chestnut Street, Naomi Street and Sherry Avenue will be close to traffic. A parking ban along the parade route goes into effect the night before the parade.

WARWICK

Fireworks to be held July 3 from 9 to 9:40 p.m. at the Oakland Beach Seawall, Oakland Beach Avenue. The fireworks can also be viewed from City Park, which offers unobstruct­ed views of the display along the shoreline.

NEWPORT

The fireworks show on Tuesday, July 4 begins around 9:15 p.m. Prime viewing locations are Newport Harbor, Fort Adams, Kings Park, all along the waterfront, the Deck, on the docks.
