PawSox are a public asset worth keeping in Pawtucket

The Pawtucket Red Sox have provided family entertainment for many years to all the people of Rhode Island and the region. As one of the few large entertainment vehicles in the state, they have provided fun for kids and parents at an affordable price. Rhode Island certainly needs that.

I’ve been lucky to be part of the Pawtucket community for many years. It has been and continues to be a diverse community of hard-working people. Times are not always easy for our families and residents. At times, economic stresses can be overwhelm- ing. The PawSox are aware of this and have worked hard to relate to the needs of the community. That is why it is so important to keep the PawSox in Pawtucket.

Fortunately, there are people and organizations who are always willing to lend a hand or help a neighbor who is experiencing a tough time.

The Pawtucket Red Sox are one of those organizations. Last year, they contributed over $100,000 to Pawtucket and the greater community. They provided scholarships to students, started a 5K for veterans, supported children and families battling cancer and provided tickets and tours. They have also sponsored events to help other organizations raise money for worthy causes.

I am grateful for their partnership and continued investment in Pawtucket and the Blackstone Valley. Let’s keep this valuable organization in Pawtucket and Rhode Island. Let’s expand on their good work and transform our downtown in the process.
