Gridiron Club announces 2017-18 schedule

-

The Providence Gridiron Club, which has been in existence since 1946 has announced its upcoming slate for this coming fall, and for their annual awards night in April.

The Gridiron Club, which promotes football at all levels in the state of Rhode Island, has also announced a renewed relationship with the Youth Football Leagues in the state. Youth players, coaches and parents will now be a part of the PGC events.

The Gridiron Club sponsors six events in the fall and one in the spring. That amounts to six dinners and one brunch, which honor players and coaches, and former players, coaches and administrators, who have played big roles in the sport of football in Rhode Island.

The PGC is spreading the news to their current and former members that they would like more participation and support for their program. Membership is $150 per year and pays for six din- ners. The brunch is separate and costs $25. Individual dinners run between $25 and $40.

A recent Steak Fry event provided a chance for members to get together and enjoy, not only a good meal, but the camaraderie of former teammates and opponents. In the future it is hoped that other events of this nature will take place.

The upcoming slate include; High School Leadership Night, Wednesday, Oct. 11; Hall of Fame Brunch, Sunday, Nov. 5; Hall of Fame Night.

Wednesday, No. 8; Super Bowl Night, Wednesday, Nov. 29; Rhode Island High School MVP Night, Wednesday, Dec. 13; and, the Annual Awards Night on Wednesday, April 4, 2018.

All the dinners will be held at the Quonset 'O' Club at 200 Lt. Brown Road, North Kingstown.

They will all start at 7 pm. The Hall of Fame Brunch will be held at the Rhode Island Country Club on 150 Nyatt Road, Barrington. Start time for the Brunch is 10:30.
