Uxbridge gears up for holidays
Town schedules annual holiday events, Santa parade
UXBRIDGE — First Holiday Night Uxbridge Inc. will present the 20th Anniversary Uxbridge First Holiday Night Santa Parade, taking place in downtown Uxbridge on Dec. 2, and featuring a holiday Fireworks display at 7:40 p.m.
Uxbridge Holiday First Night, in partnership with Blackstone Valley Tourism Council, is having a fundraiser where you can enter to win a Family 4-Pack of tickets to the Polar Express on Nov. 19 in Woonsocket. Raffle tickets are available to purchase at Mendon Street Kitchen, 9 Mendon St., Uxbridge, Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Holly Gallerani and her husband Steven purchased the building three years ago; Holly wanted to keep the building as is, in the Uxbridge Historical District. Holly and Steven rent the building to the Uxbridge First Holiday Night committee.
A little history about the First Night Committee: In 1915, the tradition of lighting the Uxbridge Town Common was established, and then expanded in 1997 by the Uxbridge First Holiday Night Committee and the Uxbridge Firefighters Association into an annual town holiday tradition. The main purpose of the Uxbridge First Holiday Night group is fundraising; food sales at Mendon Street Kitchen are one of the many ways to reach their goal each year.
Check out their Facebook page for daily specials, fundraising events, food truck for events, or catering information. The organization encourages people to join in by volunteering or as parade participants. For more information, call (508) 278-5750.
