NORTH SMITHFIELD — Stella R. (Lapierre) Provost, 95, of North Smithfield and formerly of Woonsocket, was called home to her Lord and Savior on Dec. 13, 2017 in St. Antoine Residence surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of 70 years to the late Wilfred J. Provost, Sr. Born in Fitchburg, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Florence (Leroux) Gadoury, and was raised by her aunt and uncle, Stella and Joseph Lapierre.

Stella was a modest, caring and family-oriented person who enjoyed family gatherings, travel, shopping and bingo. She worked at A.T. Cross as an assembler from 1971 until her retirement in 1985. She belonged to many clubs, including the Royal Travelers, a Christian sharing group, St. Joseph’s, Golden Hearts and Forever Young.

She is survived by three sons, Wilfred J. Provost, Jr. and his wife, Mary Flinn Cunningham, of Needham, Mass.; Richard J. Provost and his wife, Kara, of Smithfield; Normand E. Provost and his wife, Freda, of Harrisvill­e; three daughters, Madeleine J. Brule and her husband, Normand, of Woonsocket; Michelle F. Roberts and her husband, Kerry, of Smithfield; and Marie L. Houle and her husband, David, of Woonsocket; 18 grandchild­ren, 19 greatgrand­children and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings Gerald, Lionel and Morris Gadoury, Claire Blackwelde­r, Florence Gadoury and Rita Marceau.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017 at 9 a.m. from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Agatha's Church, 34 Joffre Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Farm St., Blackstone. Calling hours are Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. Stella wishes to leave you with these words; “May God bless you and keep you in his tender loving care.”
