1956

Sacred Heart Academy, playing with only an ironman five, scored its second Class B win with a hardearned 53-48 decision over West Warwick. Ray Thibeault (16 points), Ray Brochu (16), Jerry Chaput (14), and Claude Gladu (7) performed brilliantl­y on the offense, while Dick Frechette, zero points, aided on defense. Gladu and Chaput furnished some outstandin­g backboard work to hold off the aggressive Wizards.

1966

Mike Aragao, Cumberland’s all-time career scoring leader, fired in a game-high 26 points as the Clipper Grads edged the Varsity quintet 77-76 in overtime. Newman and Norman Carr combined for 34 points in support of Aragao and Joey Smith added another 14 for the Alumni. Sophomore Bob Passano paced the varsity with 21 points, while Cezar Ferreira had 14 and Jack Stefanik 10.

1976

Ken Vaudreuil, as usual, led Central Falls with 25 points and 10 assists as the Warriors remained unbeaten in Suburban Division III play with a tough 70-62 victory over Scituate. “We had four players in double figures and everyone played well. This one really was a team effort,” coach Roger Berard said. Jon Kelly netted 14 points, Ernie Desautel had 13 points and 12 rebounds and Joe Azar hooped 12 points for CF, while the fifth starter, Tom Matuszek, had an excellent defensive game.
