Police: Trio beat woman in city apartment
WOONSOCKET –A 27-year-old woman was treated at Landmark Medical Center Monday after a violent attack that one police officer described as “a frenzy of strikes from numerous people” – one of whom was her boyfriend and the father of her child.
Carlos Darios Medina, 29, of 913 Social St., is facing two counts of domestic felony assault – one each for strangling and kicking the victim. He also faces one count each of domestic simple assault and domestic disorderly conduct.
Also arrested were Alexandra Medina, 25, and Alexys Martinez, 28. They are related to Carlos Medina and share a third-floor apartment with him at 913 Social St., according to police reports.
The melee broke out after a night of drinking, when the victim went back to Medi- na’s apartment to visit him and their child in common. About 4 a.m., the victim told police, an argument broke out because Medina suspected her of cheating on him.
The victim told police the argument escalated to the point where he began pulling her by the hair and punching her in the face with a closed fist.
“She stated that he punched her in the face repeatedly, choked her and kicked her in the mid-section,” Patrol Officer Sean Rochette said in a report. “She stated that when being choked, she could not breathe.”
As Medina was attacking the woman, Alexendra Medina and Martinez allegedly joined in, apparently taking sides with Carlos.
“Alexys and Alexandra entered the room to find out what was going on,” Patrol Officer Brandon Macedo reported. “When they heard this was the result of
the (the victim) supposedly cheating on Carlos, the began to assault (her).”
Police said they located the victim walking on Social Street toward police headquarters by using GPS tracking as she communicated with the officers on her cell phone shortly after the assault.
When investigators reached her, the victim was crying, bleeding from the mouth and appeared to have bruising on the right side of her face, police said. She was later transported to the hospital for treatment and evaluation.
