NRI Chamber of Commerce honors local duo
LINCOLN — The Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce has announced the receipients of its annual Barbara C. Burlingame Distinguished Public Service Award and the Ben G. Mondor award for business and they go Pawtucket City Councilwoman Sandra C. Cano and Woonsocket’s David M. Soucy, the President of the Soucy Insurance Agency, respectively.
The tributes will be handed out by Chamber Executive Director John C. Gregory and special presenters at the Chamber’s Annual Dinner at the Twin River Event Center on Feb. 8, beginning at 5 p.m.
The Honorable Linda E. McMahon, Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration, will be keynote speaker for the evening, according to Lesley Palagi, executive assistant to the president and Chamber spokeswoman.
The Barbara C. Burlingame Distinguished Public Service award was established in 2003 to honor the late Woonsocket State Representative and former Chamber Vice President. The Burligame award recognizes a Rhode Island elected official who has made outstanding contributions to the business community and also recognizes individuals who exhibit the highest standards of excellence, dedication, and accomplishment in the public service arena.
The Ben G. Mondor award was established in 2011 to honor the former owner of the Pawtucket Red Sox and his drive to build a Rhode Island tradition in the City of Pawtucket where his McCoy Stadium is located.
Mondor Award is given to an individual who goes above and beyond philanthropically, within their community.
