Landmark, RHRI seeking student volunteers
WOONSOCKET – Landmark Medical Center and the Rehabilitation Hospital of Rhode Island (RHRI) are accepting applications for its Student Summer Volunteer program.
The program provides valuable work experience to high school and college students, ages 14 to 20. Volunteers learn firsthand about healthcare careers by working with staff and assisting patients while gaining the personal satisfaction that comes from helping others in the community.
A minimum time commitment of 25 total service hours over eight weeks is required to participate in the program, which runs from June 25 through Aug. 17. Flexible shifts of three to six hours are available weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on the weekends on a more limited schedule. Orientation and training are provided.
The deadline to reserve placement is June 1, 2018, and placements will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
Student volunteer positions are available in the following departments: Nursing Units, Dietary, Lobby Greeter, Emergency Department (18 & older), administrative areas, and at our rehab facility in North Smithfield.
Landmark is located at 115 Cass Ave., Woonsocket; and RHRI is located at 116 Eddie Dowling Highway, North Smithfield. They have an extensive volunteer program, with participants ranging in age from 14 to 90 working throughout the hospital.
