Lawrence posts straight-set victory in Mounties’ defeat to Avengers

WOONSOCKET — In a match continued from Thursday, Mount St. Charles senior No. 2 singles player Jacob Lawrence posted a 7-5, 6-2 victory East Greenwich’s Alexander Sack in the Mounties’ 5-2 Division I defeat to the Avengers.

Mount’s only other win came at No. 4 singles where Anuj Swaminatha­n was trailing Zach Espat 5-0, but the freshman was forced to retire with an injury. Mount St. Charles (2-9 Division I) hosts North Kingstown tomorrow afternoon.

Doubles – Nils Fimmers and Alan Zhang, EG, def. Dre Danneker and Shaan Asrora, 6-3, 6-0; Zadoc Gee and James Harwood, EG, def. Tim O’Brien and Nick. Tiberio, 6-1, 6-3; Daniel Sun and Jonathan Yao, EG, def. Justin Smith and Brian Zhang, 6-0, 6-1.

WOONSOCKET — Woonsocket No. 1 singles player Khameron Savatdy and No. 2 singles player Andy Ratsapho both picked up impressive straight-set wins Tuesday afternoon, but Tiverton won the rest of the matches to earn a 5-2 Division III win at the Aylsworth Courts.

Savatdy defeated Zane Pacheco 6-3, 6-3, while Ratsapho posted a 6-6, 6-1 victory over Dylan Clark. The Novans only won two games in the four other matches.

Woonsocket (2-6 Division III) heads to North Providence tomorrow afternoon.
