Leonard D. Lavoie
NORTH SMITHFIELD — Leonard D. ‘Lenny Lightning’ Lavoie, 68, of North Smithfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center with his loving family by his side.
He is the beloved husband for 36 years of Elizabeth A. (Ethier) Lavoie. Born in Providence on July 29, 1949, the son of the late Normand and Helen (Nowak) Lavoie, he is the loving father of Audrey A. Lavoie and Laurie A. Lavoie, both of Woonsocket; and Lenny C. Lavoie of North Smithfield.
He leaves his cherished grandchildren, Javon T. Harmon, Kaylina V. Harmon, Skylah L. Lavoie and the late Daylan T. Harmon. He is the brother of Aurelie Maciejewski and her husband, Tad, of North Smithfield; and Gail Salois and her husband, Steve of Blackstone, Mass.
He was a lifelong resident of North Smithfield and was a graduate of Pawtucket Vocational Tech. Lenny was a heavy equipment operator. He worked and operated with his Dad, N.L. Construction in North Smithfield, and worked at Leboeuf Construction in Burrillville, Material Sand & Stone in North Smithfield until retiring.
Lenny loved to play softball and played for the VFW in Slatersville and The Island in North Smithfield and was on the Board of Directors for The Island. Devoted to his family and friends, Lenny will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 12, at 1 p.m. at CARTIER’S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, Mass. Visiting hours are from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., prior to service. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Leonard D. Lavoie to the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 would be appreciated.
