SAVATDY POSTS WIN

NORTH PROVIDENCE — Woonsocket High bused to North Providence on Thursday afternoon with hopes of manufacturing a Division III upset, and – for a spell – it appeared possible for the Villa Novans.

After all, Khameron Savatdy dismissed Angela Magat, 6-3, 6-0, at the first singles spot.

The Cougars, however, swept the rest of the lineup and cruised to a 6-1 triumph.

The Novans nevertheless made NP earn it, as Andy Ratsapho put up a battle before succumbing to Ricky Africo, 6-4, 6-3; and No. 1 doubles, the tandem of Simon Savatphong and Nathaly Phrasavath sustained a tough 6-2, 7-6 (3) loss to Steve Grivers and Gian Salvatore.
