State Sen. Thomas Paolino announces re-election bid

-

State Sen. Thomas Paolino recently released the following statement announcing his intention to campaign for re-election:

“Today it is with great pride that I announce my candidacy for state Senate District 17; Lincoln, North Providence, and North Smithfield. Two years ago I was humbled to be elected to represent our district upon the retirement of Sen. Ed O’Neill. Sen. O’Neill represented us with integrity, competence, and ethics; values I have worked hard to uphold during my term in the Senate. I voted against the Pawtucket Red Sox deal to protect our taxpayers, espe- cially with the House version which added an additional $54 million in debt service. I have delivered on my promises of lowering taxes for my constituents with the car tax phase out, saving taxpayers in our district over $1 million,” he said.

“I supported safe school efforts by voting for red flag legislation. As a newly appointed member of the Senate Finance Committee, I fought for our fair share in school construction funding, resulting in an additional $8.4 million, for building the new Lincoln High School and I will continue this fight for our district. Additionally, as a member of the Health and Human Services Committee, I co-sponsored legislation to combat the opioid crisis and addressed issues for our senior and most vulnerable citizens,” he said.

“I continue to be a watchdog in the Senate voting against bad legislation intended for self-interest over public interest. I will continue to lead the way for the complete repeal of the car tax, and be an advocate for fiscal responsibility with taxpayer money. I will continue to improve the business landscape in our district to attract new business and retain the businesses we have. And I will repeal antiquated laws that hurt our businesses and residents and serve no purpose,” he said.

“It would be an honor and privilege to once again be your voice and representative in the Rhode Island Senate. Together, we can work for a better state. I respectfully ask for your support and vote. I pledge to represent you with a common sense approach, making educated decisions with class, dignity and pride while putting your interests above all. I will continue to be accessible. Please contact me at any time via email or call me on my cell phone at thomaspaolino@yahoo.com and 401-749-6120.”
