1953

Pictured is the Premier Thread nine that captured the Blackstone Valley Little League championship. The team members are Steve Calabro, Dennis Ford, Ted Crowell, Armand LaChance, Henry Dugan, Mike Campbell, Jackie Nixon, Bill Asermelly, Leo Heroux, Bob Diamani and Ed Anderson. The champs are managed by Walter (Sandy) Sandrowski and the batboy is Doug Sandrowski.

1963

Frank Geiselman, a senior taking his first crack at football, is the top receiver among schoolboys in the Blackstone Valley as the big end has hauled in 13 passes for 271 yards and one touchdown, while end Leroy Cooney of Cumberland is second with nine catches and 169 yards and is the leader in touchdown receptions with four. Sturdy little Ron Demeulenaere, Saint Raphael Academy halfback, is the top ground gainer with 163 yards in 28 carries, while Greg Monteiro of Tolman is runner-up with 150 yards in 25 tries. Cumberland’s Bernie Norton, who isn’t even a regular offensive back, is the leader in yards gained per carry with an 11.2 average (101 yards on nine carries).

1973

Pawtucket West, led by Art Moraira and Mario Fernandes, erupted for four second half goals to beat Tolman 6-2 in the first-ever soccer game played between the two Pawtucket schools. Fernandes tallied three goals, Moreira two and Idledefonso Vasconcelos found the net for the Rangers, while Del Rainho accounted for both of the Tigers’ goals. The win was the fifth straight for the undefeated Westerners, while Tolman dropped to 1-1.
