Two women charged in violent domestic assault at Railroad Street apartment

NORTH SMITHFIELD – Two women were arrested and charged with domestic felony assault and other crimes Sunday after they allegedly broke into an apartment on Railroad Street, where police say they stabbed and pepper-sprayed an ex-boyfriend who was staying with a woman.

On Sunday, patrol officers responded to 10 Railroad St. for a report of an assault. Upon the officers’ arrival, police reportedly learned that the two women – Allyah Harden of North Providence and Tara Iadevaia of Johnston – had gone to an apartment in the complex to confront an ex-boyfriend and a woman he was staying with. When the two women arrived, they allegedly used a knife to pry open the lock on the building door and went up to the apartment. Once there, police said, the two women used a knife to carve marks in the door.

According to police, the ex-boyfriend of one of the females opened the door and stepped out into the hallway and it was then that the two women assaulted him. During the physical altercation, Harden allegedly stabbed the male victim with a knife. Harden and Iadevaia also allegedly used pepper spray on the male victim and two other females that were with him. According to police, Iadevaia also had a BB gun which she used to intimidate the victim and his friend.

After the altercation, Harden and Iadevaia left the scene. According to police, Harden had a no contact order against her for her to stay away from the male victim.

Harden and Iadevaia were located and taken into custody. They were charged with two counts of domestic felony assault; carrying a dangerous weapon while committing a crime of violence; two counts of felony assault; breaking and entering; conspiracy; domestic disorderly conduct; vandalism; and violation of a no contact order.

They were both arraigned in Third District Court on Monday and will appear back in court for a status conference on Nov. 19.
