-

FRANKLIN – On Nov. 17 at 8 p.m., Texas singer/songwriter Eliza Gilkyson returns to the Circle of Friends Coffeehouse stage.

Eliza is a twice Grammy-nominated, politically minded, poetically gifted singer-songwriter who has become one of the most respected musicians in Folk and Americana music circles. Eliza’s music has always re- flected her vivid vision of the world around her, full of joys and sorrows, each song a window into a life of struggle and triumph. She has appeared on NPR, Austin City Limits, Mountain Stage, and Etown, among many others, and has toured with Richard Thompson, Patty Griffin and Mary Chapin Carpenter. http://elizagilkyson.com/

Tracy Grammer and Jim Henry will be playing with Eliza.

“Gilkyson doesn’t pull any punches. She graces the music with her lush and passionate voice; a dark and lonely sound, hope and satisfaction, and edgy lyrics with piercing imagery round out the whole.” said a New York Times review.

The Circle of Friends Coffeehouse is a nonprofit organization affiliated with Franklin’s First Universalist Society. Concerts are presented in a smoke-free and alcohol-free environment at the Society’s handicapped accessible Meetinghouse, 262 Chestnut St. in Franklin, and begin at 8 p.m.; doors open at 7:30 p.m. Beverages and gourmet desserts will be available.
