Beaudoin, Hall, Brandao lead NS to three wins

-

PROVIDENCE – Senior Brittany Beaudoin, junior Racheal Hall and freshman Katarina Brandao all captured one individual event to propel North Smithfield High to a trio of Northern Division victories over Shea (84-4), Tolman (68-32) and Scituate (75-24) at the Providence Career & Technical Academy fieldhouse on Tuesday night.

The only hiccup came in a 5842 loss to Wheeler.

Beaudoin took the high jump with a leap of 4-2, while Shaw reigned in the shot put (25-7 ¾) and Brandao in the 3,000 meters (15:16.48). Shaw added a third in the 20-pound weight toss.

The Tigers may have dropped a pair of decisions to the Northmen (3-1) and the Warriors (55-31), but did eke out a 35-32 triumph over the Spartans.

Junior Abbie Jammeh managed a win in the weight throw (28-1 ½) and third in the put (24-6 ¾), while sophomore Nia DaCruz snared the 55 hurdles (10.33) and placed third in the 300.

Seniors Alexandra Clark and Claire Guertin went 2-3 in the long jump for the Tigers.

In another double-dual meet, Central Falls sustained defeats to both Central (60-41) and Chariho (54-41) on Tuesday evening, but sophomore Elaine Vaz Ramos swept the shot put (24-8) and weight heave (33-0), while senior standout Dulcinea Burgo garnered a win in the 300 (46.21) and runner-up in the high jump (4-6).

Like the Warriors, St. Raphael may have suffered two defeats to Barrington (85-24) and Prout (63-45), yet still received some outstanding performances. Sophomore Rachael Mongeau flew to wins in the 1,500 (5:18.28) and 1,000 (3:26.30), while the sister tandem of junior Faith and frosh Christine Kizekai claimed second and third in the 55 dash (respective times of 8.26 and 8.29).

In the race of the night, Faith Kizekai lost to Barrington sophomore Noelle Teixeira by a mere .05.
