Debbie Pereira netted 14 points and grabbed 16 rebounds, Lori Palagi canned 14 points and Clipper teammate Chris Tobiasz turned in a fine effort in the clutch, hitting six points, snaring five rebounds and playing good defense. “We didn’t play well, just enough to win,” said Cumberland coach Frank Geiselman who saw his team improve to 10-0 for the season.

1990 A stellar effort by Heath Tiberio of Shea and an equal

ly impressive performance by the Saint Raphael Academy distance medley relay team highlighted the opening day of the Hospital Trust Track & Field Invitational at Brown University’s Olney-Margolies Athletic Center for local athletes. Tiberio was honored for uncorking the day’s best individual throw during the 25-pound weight competition, a heave of 60-11, which brought a smile to the face of his quadragenarian coach, Kevin Mulligan.
