World War memories at North Gate
LINCOLN — On Sunday, Feb. 24, historian Kevin Heskins will take you back to the days of World War II, bringing examples of his amazing collection of all aspects of the war, from all countries. He has uniforms belonging to armies from all major countries, including the Spanish, German, Japanese, and American soldiers. In addition, he will show the varied weapons used by them: swords, bayonets, gas masks, and others. Heskins has been fascinated with both World War I and II, and has spent over a decade hunting down all he can find memorializing these two devastating times in our history. He has previously brought many souvenirs from his WWI collection, and his memorabilia from the second world war is also second to none. North Gate will be going back to this historic time Sunday, Feb. 24, from 2 to 4 p.m. Relive the second “war to end all wars” as seen from all different countries’ viewpoints. The Blackstone Valley Historical Society is dedicated to the history and antiquities of the Northern Rhode Island communities of Pawtucket, Central Falls, Lincoln, Cumberland, North Smithfield and Woonsocket. All interested persons are invited to join the organization.
