Arnold Mills panel planning parade, road race

CUMBERLAND – The Arnold Mills Parade Associatio­n will be meeting to plan for the 93rd annual Fourth of July Parade and 51st Road Race in Cumberland.

Volunteers are welcome to attend at 7 p.m. at the Arnold Mills Methodist Church, Nate Whipple Highway, Cumberland, Rhode Island. Volunteers who might like to help out on a limited basis, such as division marshals and members of the bucket brigade, as well as other tasks on the day of the parade, are also needed.

• Burrillvil­le Parks & Recreation Safe Sitter Program, hosted by the Hasbro Children's Hospital at the Burrillvil­le Middle School Media Center, 2220 Broncos Highway, Harrisvill­e, 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.;

• Lifesaving instructio­n on preventing and managing injuries, infant child CPR, caring for a choking infant or child, and rescue breathing, with helpful tips on managing difficult behavior and other problems faced by sitters or siblings. The program is $50 and is open to ages 11 to 14. This fee includes the Safe Sitter Manual. Pre-registrati­on is required and is offered on a first come, first serve basis.
