MENDON – Southwick’s Zoo will host its second annual Harvest Fest on Sunday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“We started this event last year, and we are very excited to have the event again this year,” Margaret McIsaac, coordinator of Harvest Fest.

Last year’s event saw record-breaking attendance for the month of October. The event takes place during Zoo Boo Days, the zoo’s annual Halloween event, so up to two children ages 3 to 12 dressed in costume will receive free admission to the zoo when accompanied by a paid adult. This event, which is included with zoo admission, features live music, a Craft Vendor Market spread throughout the park, food trucks, free wagon rides, mascots, live pumpkin carving, performers throughout the day and a Craft Beer Garden. Gay Perkoski, Timmy Brown, and Country Wild Band are the musical performers taking the main stage at Harvest Fest. Guests can also enjoy a craft beer tasting in the Beer Garden Tent. Participating breweries include local favorites such as As Built Brewing, Wormtown, White Lion Brewing, Proclamation Brewing, Purgatory Brewing and Crave Mead.

The Craft Vendor Market includes a wide variety of artisan jewelry designers, craft soap makers and sign makers. In addition to craft vendors, local farms and bakers will be in attendance bringing their delicious food and handmade crafts.

“This is a great event for the whole family to enjoy a day at the zoo,” Dr. Peter Brewer, President of Southwick’s Zoo and veterinarian. “We can’t wait to see you there!” Those interested in Harvest Fest can learn more at www.southwickszoo.com/harvest-fest/.
