Operation Stand Down slated for this weekend

CUMBERLAND - Operation Stand Down Rhode Island returns to Diamond Hill State Park in Cumberland this weekend to help veterans in need, especially those that are homeless.

Homeless veterans can get help with food, haircuts, medical and dental assistance and legal and housing aid during the annual Stand Down outreach weekend Friday through Sunday at the park, 4097 Diamond Hill Road.

Sponsored by Operation Stand Down Rhode Island, Stand Down Weekend is a three-day outreach event which gathers homeless and low-income veterans from around Rhode Island and brings them to a military-style encampment.

Operation Stand Down Rhode Island was founded in 1993 when several Vietnam era veterans, including current Board Chairman and President Tony DeQuattro,
