three series of 371 and Joe Savoie rolled the high string of 141 to take top honors in the weekly Sacred Heart Men’s Duckpin Bowling League. Other leaders were Mal Kelly 132-366, Savoie 362, Bob Legewiec 126-359, Joe McCluskie 125-358, Tom Groves 132-357, Hal Keenan 132356, Leo Dubois 354, Jim Sweeney 137-350, Austin Smith 125-340 and Norm Dubois 332.

1983 Hard-hitting Brian Dorval captured the champi

onship of the Lincoln Parks & Recreation Department’s fifth annual tennis tournament defeating defending champ Joe Azar 6-3, 6-4. Dorval, who earlier this year won the Met B clay court title, advanced to the finals by beating three-time tourney winner Dick Boyce 6-1, 4-6, 6-2. The Women’s Division crown went to Carmela DelGrande, who bested Pat DeCasaris 6-2, 6-4 in the finals.

1993 Buddy Rodgers of East Providence leads the Times

area football schoolboy ground-gainers with 519 yards on 54 carries for an average of 9.6 yards/run. Rounding out the top five rushers are Cumberland’s Chris Arthurs (383 yards), Attleboro’s Dave Menard (276), Lincoln’s Steve Schmidts (226) and Hassan Hammed of Saint Raphael Academy is sixth with 197 yards. Rodgers also is the pacesetter in scoring with 54 points on eight touchdowns and six PAT conversion­s, while Steve Garcia is the top receiver with six receptions and Bishop Feehan teammates Tony Morin and Mike Yurof are tied with 17.3 yards/catch.
