Germani leads Lincoln to victory over Townies

LINCOLN — Lauren Germani posted an impressive 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 No. 2 singles win over East Providence­s Raissa Luu to help the Lions secure a 4-3 Division II victory over the Townies Tuesday afternoon.

Lincoln (4-7 Division II) also received victories over Lynsey Fleming and the doubles teams of Julia Donfrances­co and Amisa Mon and Sam St. Jean and Jane Goudreau. The only doubles team of Josephine Manning and Bhavya Chatragadd­a dropped a three-set match at No. 1 doubles.

Lincoln travels to Classical Wednesday before finishing the regular season Thursday at Cranston East.

TIGERS FALL TO KNIGHTS

PROVIDENCE — Tolman senior No. 1 singles player Victoria Chmielinsk­i and the No. 1 doubles team of Mia Davila and Charlize Lopez posted victories, but Central earned a 5-2 Division III victory over the Tigers.

Tolman (1-12 Division III) finishes the season Wednesday at Slater Park against winless Providence Country Day. Tuesday, No. 2 singles player Gina Carpenter lost a three-set match, while singles players Delaney Sweeney and Allisa Dantzler played well after getting blown out in the first set.

WOONSOCKET — The Woonsocket tennis team dropped the first two singles matches of Tuesday’s Division III match with Hope, but the Villa Novans used their depth to overwhelm the Blue Wave, 5-2, the Aylsworth Tennis Courts.

Woonsocket (7-5 Division III) took a big step toward the playoffs thanks to straightse­t victories from singles players Claudine Wehbe and Sainab Ishola-Jackson. The No. 1 doubles team of Emily Flannery and Rachnie Iv and the No. 2 doubles team of Natalie Wang and Samantha Durand also won in straight sets. The Novans won the third doubles match by forfeit.
