1954 Dennis (Peanuts) Aurello, a 5-foot, 102-pound fresh

man halfback who has aspirations to become a jockey, scored two touchdowns to lead a strong East Greenwich eleven to a 26-6 win over Pawtucket Vocational in a Class C encounter at McCoy Stadium. Tom Campbell racked up the Vokes’ only TD grabbing an errant pass and racing 28 yards for the score. Armand Lamontagne, who carried the ball three out of four times for Vocational, along with Milt Massashuk, Bob Dufour, Bob Przekop, Ed Harker and Joe Wilson stood out for the locals who dropped their seventh consecutive game of the season.

1964 Cumberland’s Gerry Gosselin has tied the only pass

ing record that Tolman’s Larry Caswell failed to break last season when the slick Clipper quarterback tossed two touchdowns to raise his total of TD strikes for the season to 12, a record that Tolman’s Mike Mauricio established in 1960. Tall junior end Bob Brooks of Saint Raphael Academy took the pass-catching lead with four receptions against Classical for a season total of 14 for 280 yards. Tolman’s halfback Bob Moniz and Billy Free, Cumberland halfback, are tied for second with 13 catches apiece. Moniz is the pacesetter in touchdown receptions with six. 1974 Coach Dennis O’Brien’s Saint Raphael Academy elev

en had the better statistics, but Warren took good advantage of all the breaks to edge the Saints 20-15 in a game which could decide the Class B Small Division championship. Tom Hagan bulled over from the four-yard line and Roland Fournier dashed three yards on a QB keeper for the SRA touchdowns. Dave Bruzzi ran for a PAT and Dick Margarita booted a conversion, while Steve Menard led the defense with two fumble recoveries. “My kids did everything we asked of them. We outplayed Warren, I thought, and still lost,” said O’Brien.
