1954 Bobby Humphrey scored two touchdowns and booted

three placements to pace Pawtucket East to a decisive 27-0 win over Pawtucket West before a crowd of 1,500 in the 13th annual clash between the two city rivals at McCoy Stadium. Humphrey tallied on a 39-yard pass from Alan McGuy and an eight-yard run, while Dave Reynolds scored on a 19-yard jaunt and Bill Packer returned a fumble 24 yards for a TD. Ed Akucewich, George Demers and Frank Dompkowski were outstanding on defense for coach Gig Pariseau’s Redjackets.

1964 QB Larry Caswell completed four of eight passes for 79

yards and rushed for two touchdowns as Tolman made it to the top of the Class A standings with a 20-19 conquest over Pilgrim. Caswell scored on a one-yard plunge and a 14-yard rollout and Bob Moniz returned an interception 39 yards for a TD, while Rick Scherza was successful on two of three PAT kicks. The Tigers’ defensive line play was again tremendous, especially middle linebacker Larry Chouinard and end Walt Drapala. Duhamel also threw a couple of nifty blocks that opened up long gainers.

1974 Don Berthelette and sophomore Maurice Fontaine

scored two touchdowns apiece as coach Denny O’Brien’s Saint Raphael Academy eleven recorded its sixth win in seven starts routing South Kingstown 48-12 in Class B Small Division action. Berthelette ran two and six yards, Fontaine dashed two and four yards, Roland Fournier scampered 70 yards, Steve Menard recovered a fumble in the end zone and QB Fournier and Chris Troy hooked up on a 16-yard aerial to account for SRA’s TD parade. Dave Bruzzi and Berthelette rushed for two-point conversions and Dick Margarita was successful on two placements for the Saints.
